Developmetal Program

Glenmore's Women's Artistic Gymnastics program consists of pre-competitive and competitive groups. The WAG program follows the Canadian Competitive Program (CCP) Manual - formally the Junior Olympic (JO) Program.

Admission to the WAG program is through an in-person tryout and skill assessment. To book a tryout, please contact WAG Team Lead: Sydney Jones

Pre-Competitive Program

Glenmore's Pre-Competitive WAG program is designed for athletes aged 4-5 and is the stepping stone to the competitive program.

In Pre-Competitive, the athletes are introduced to the four WAG apparatus (vault, bars, beam, and floor) as well as the introductory skills on those apparatus. The focus of the Pre-Competitive program is to begin to develop core strength and flexibility to help the athlete transition to the compulsory program.

Competitive Program - Compulsory

The Competitive WAG program begins with CCP levels 1-5 which consist of compulsory routines in each of the four disciplines (vault, bars, beam, and floor) that are the same for each athlete in that level. The skills learned and mastered in each level are designed to progress the athlete smoothly and confidently to the next level.

Athletes in the compulsory program are welcome to compete in events in and around Calgary and may travel to out of province competitons if they wish.

Competitive Program - Optional

The optional levels of the competitive program are CCP levels 6-10. In these levels, all routines and vaults are decided upon by the coach and athlete. Specific skills are required to be performed in each level but the athlete can show off their creativity and athleticism in each event in the process of executing those skills.

In the optional program, there is an expectation to compete in a minimum number of events over the competition season. These events will take place in and around Calgary and Alberta with the potential for some events in other provinces and in the US.
